COVID

COVID-19: an acute disease in humans caused by a coronavirus, which is characterized mainly by fever and cough and is capable of progressing to severe symptoms and in some cases death, especially in older people and those with underlying health conditions.

Long COVID:
is a multisystemic condition following COVID-19 infection. Preliminary reports have shown that at least 65 million individuals are estimated to suffer from long COVID, with cases increasing daily. It is defined as the continuation or development of new symptoms 3 months after the initial COVID-19 infection, with these symptoms lasting for at least 2 months with no other explanation.

In both acute Covid infections and Long Covid, repeated HBOT sessions decreases incidence of mortality and disability and offers promising safe and effective therapy for Long Covid sufferers.

Mortality in COVID-19 is mainly associated with respiratory failure, cytokine storm, and macrophage activation. Oxygenation and anti-inflammatory effects of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) suggest that it is a promising adjunct treatment for COVID-19.
