Hyperbaric Oxygen for Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning
and CO Poisoning Complicated by Cyanide

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning occurs because CO bonds more effectively to the hemoglobin in red blood cells than oxygen does. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) works in two ways: it can allow the blood plasma to carry enough oxygen to support life functions, irrespective of the blood cells and it can help oxygen to outcompete the CO molecules on hemoglobin binding sites. CO poisoning is dependent on exposure and may be an emergency situation.

How can Oceanside Hyperbaric help?

Oceanside Hyperbaric is not an emergency medical clinic, and as such, we cannot adequately address a serious case of CO poisoning. After treatment in a medical facility, upon release we can administer HBOT to address chronic complications associated with CO poisoning.
